I experience my greatest joy when I am sharing my unique gifts, personal experiences, realizations, and my passion with those who are drawn to work with me. What is important to me is how I show up in the world – not the work I do, the roles I play in the playground of life or the things I possess. Showing-up means to be fully present with myself and with you. It also means being able to sit in the question with all of the accompanying discomfort and uncertainty. “Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far into the future you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answers.” Rainier Marie Rilke These are the questions I sit in: - How would I live my life if I KNEW I was Loved?
- How can I live in the world without believing what the rest of world believes?
- Can I be with you and not want anything from you?
- Can I be grateful for the smallest of life's gifts?
- Can I sit with you in the midst of your discomfort without wanting to change anything?
- Can I welcome each feeling that comes my way with a willingness and openness?
- Who would I be in the midst of loving being ordinary?
Stay tuned – the questions change as I change. | | The Me that shows up as Maggie in this life is mother to beautiful Wendy, mother-in-law to entrepreneur Mike and Grandmother to amazing Callie and Carson. | Yoga and The Work are part of my daily routine; and I hike, bike, ski and travel whenever and wherever possible. |
The human side of me experiences sadness, anger and moments when I behave in the exact opposite way I want to behave. I have learned to "follow my heart" which has required jumping off a few cliffs. Somehow I have always landed on my feet. I make "mistakes" on a regular basis and know that each brings a gift of learning. All this humanness leads to laughter, compassion and gratitude. I have come to love the gift of life. In my professional life I have worked as an educator, a director of staff development, a director of human resources, a consultant to organizations, a master facilitator and trainer, personal life coach and facilitator of The Work of Byron Katie. I have worked with individuals, groups and organizations to facilitate transformational change and explore new possibilities. I have loved every ‘job’ I have had. I feel fortunate to have had so many opportunities to do so many things. top Following My Heart: Jumping off Cliffs "Following my Heart" hasn’t always been easy, but it has always led me to the most amazing experiences. I have changed career paths a few times, found myself exploring new ways of living in the world, and followed a spiritual path that has led me to some wonderful mentors and teachers. And, most importantly, I have learned that I am my own best teacher. A few places where I’ve jumped off a cliff. - Changed both my first and last name at the age of 38. I chose the name” Maggie” because I loved it and the name “Carter” because it was the maiden name of a favorite great aunt.
- When it became clear to me that the public educational system was not willing to make the changes I thought were essential, I left to start my own consulting business.
- For my 50th year my then husband and I took a year away from our regular lives to fulfill a dream of traveling around the world with just backpacks. It was a magical, spiritual, adventursome journey. We wrote a book that shares what we learned about taking such an adventure. If you think you could never take such a journey but really want to – read this book!!!
Email me if you would like a free pdf copy of this book. Click here for a peak into the book, the table of contents and two chapters. And you can read an article published in several newspapers about the journey. - After two years working for an amazing company as the Human Resource Director, the difficult decision to leave was made. It had become evident that the fit was no longer there for either of us. I traveled for a few months in Europe and then returned home to rejuvenate my consulting business.
- I’ve entered into two marriages with two amazing men and in both cases we decided to go our separate ways. Two very powerful experiences. I wouldn't trade either of them since each brought unique and special experiences that I will always treasure.
- Along the way my consulting business has evolved and changed. The skills I have developed over the years, my experiences and my passions have found their way into the type of work where I feel very much at home.
